Garima Gospels
Overview
Two gospel books kept at the monastery of Abba Garima in Tigray, radiocarbon dated between 390 and 660 CE, making them possibly the oldest complete illuminated Christian manuscripts. Written in Ge'ez with illuminated canon tables, tradition says they were made by the monk Abba Garima in a day.
