Rigveda Manuscripts
Overview
The oldest surviving manuscripts of the Rigveda, the foundational hymns of Hinduism composed orally by around 1200 BCE but written down only in the 15th to 17th centuries in Nepal and India. The 29 paths of oral recitation preserved the text with astonishing fidelity. Inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World register in 2007.
