Magna Carta 1215 (BL Cotton copy)
Overview
One of only four surviving originals of the 1215 Magna Carta, the charter in which King John accepted that he was bound by law. This copy, from Canterbury, entered the Cotton collection and survived fire damage in 1731. Foundation stone of constitutional government.
