Book of Durrow
Overview
The oldest fully decorated Insular gospel book, made around 650 to 700, a generation before the Book of Kells. Its carpet pages of interlace and animal ornament in yellow, red, and green set the pattern for later Insular art. Long venerated as a relic of Columba at Durrow.
