Geneva Bible 1560
Overview
The Bible of Shakespeare and the Pilgrims, printed in Geneva in 1560 by English exiles with verse numbers, italics for supplied words, and explanatory notes in roman type. Its Calvinist annotations angered the bishops, but it was the popular household Bible of Elizabethan England for decades.
