Coverdale Bible 1535
Overview
The first complete printed Bible in English, translated and published by Miles Coverdale in Antwerp in 1535. Working from German and Latin sources rather than the original languages, Coverdale nevertheless shaped English biblical style. Dedicated to Henry VIII, it made English Bibles respectable.
