Overview

The single most important source for Old Norse mythological and heroic poetry, the Poetic Edda, copied in the 1270s in Iceland. Its 90 leaves preserve Havamal, Voluspa, and dozens of poems known nowhere else. Written by an unknown priest, returned to Iceland from Denmark in 1971.
