Beowulf Manuscript
Overview
The Nowell Codex, copied around 1000, contains the only surviving copy of Beowulf, the greatest Old English epic poem of 3,182 lines. Damaged by fire in 1731, its edges remain scorched. Since 2016 it has been digitized and can be read online in ultra high resolution.
