Knossos Linear B Tablets
Overview
Thousands of clay tablets from the Minoan palace at Knossos, written in Linear B and dated around 1400 to 1200 BCE. Michael Ventris deciphered the script in 1952, proving it recorded an early Greek dialect and pushing documented Greek back 400 years. Most tablets are palace inventories, rations, and tribute lists.
